Archie Gemmill

Gemmill cost Derby County £66,000 and he proved to be worth every penny. He developed in to one of the best midfielders in England while playing for the club and was arguably the quickest player in the English league. Gemmill helped the Rams win the league title twice in the 1970’s and in total spent 14 years playing for the club between 1970 and 1984. H also played his international football for Scotland, most notably scoring a stunning goal in a match against Holland in the 1978 world cup finals.

 

Trevor Francis

Francis made his debut for the Birmingham City first team in 1970 and quickly established himself as a great talent. He was awarded his first international cap for England in 1976 and went on to spend a total of nine years playing for the blues, leaving in 1979 for Nottingham Forest. He became the first million pound player due to his move, moving for £999,999 to Nottingham Forest, breaking the British transfer record fee. He helped Forest win the league cup, league title and the European cup. He played for England during there 1980 European championships and the 1982 world cup finals.
